Class Norms

As seventh graders you are expected to take resposnsibilty for yourselves. You are expected to come to class prepared, quickly take your seats and begin our days Science Starter. The more self control you show me, the more I can trust you with.

Behavior:
At the beginning of the year each class worked together to create a behavior contract. I still expect all students to adhere to these class created guidelines and expectations. Additionally the first five minutes of class are considered a grace period. This is when you may freely leave to use the bathroom, go to your locker get a drink, etc. After that you will be expected to stay in class other than for obvious emergencies.

Leaving the classroom
As a white house team we have decided that the first five minutes of class will be considered a grace period for students. During this time students may go to their locker, the bathroom, to get a drink etc. Once this five minute period has based students will only be allowed to leave for emergencies. We believe that this will create the fewest interruptions to our class as well as be fair and realistic to students.

Reward system

In order to recognize your accomplishments and help you succeed I have implemented a reward policy. Students will be lumped into 4 reward groups based on classroom performance.
  1. Those students with grades between 67 and 74 with no missing or incomplete assignments that week will be given one hall pass.
  2. Students with grades between 75 and 84 will receive one reward points
  3. Students with grades between 85 and 94 will receive two reward points
  4. Students with grades above 95 will be given three reward points.

For this system grades will be checked Friday and points will be issued Monday. Points do not expire, but you may not have more than three at any time. Any points over three are lost.

Students may use their points for any of the following
  • A free hall pass
  • A no homework pass (for regular homework only - does not apply to projects or labs that have parts done at home - cannot be used for work already missing.)
  • An extra day to turn in projects and labs with no late penalty
  • 5 extra percent on a test or quiz

*This system may be changed at any time - I will let you know when and if it is.*
